Sydney Downey

Hi! I’m Sydney, and I studied abroad in Ecuador through UF in Quito and Galápagos Islands (Fall 2024). While abroad, I took classes related to ecology and conservation, including Tropical Ecology, Native and Introduced Plants of Galapagos, and Geographic Information Systems. I got to explore all sorts of amazing places like the Amazon rainforest, and see unique animals like marine iguanas and blue-footed boobies. I made friendships that will last a lifetime, and learned a lot about adapting to uncomfortable situations and being open to new perspectives.
