Cali Hinesley

Hi! My name is Cali (she/her) and I studied abroad in Thessaloniki, Greece during Summer A 2022, and in Cape Town, South Africa during Summer A 2023. In Greece, I lived in Thessaloniki for 6 weeks taking classes with UF professors, attending guest lectures at Aristotle University, and working with local healthcare NGOs where I interviewed doctors and refugees. In South Africa, I lived in Cape Town for 6 weeks interning at a medical center while conducting diabetes and nutrition research.

Studying abroad was one of the best decisions of my life because I was able to learn so much about public health (my major) and I came back knowing I am on the right track following my passions! I also got to meet some of my lifelong best friends: some UF students who were on my program and a few locals from our hostel. Studying abroad helped me grow so much and I hope everyone gets a chance to do it!
